From Service to Scholar – Veteran Storytelling at Dartmouth College

In addition to owning and operating Wheatberry Construction, Casey Carpenter runs the “From Service to Scholar” storytelling and communications program at Dartmouth College. The program, up and running since 2020, aims to help fellow veterans remember and share their experience(s) of military service while learning how those stories inform the decision of what they choose to study and/or pursue professionally. The program helps veterans gain comfort in sharing their story while supporting them with application essays, interview preparation, and the all-around ways we can translate our military experience to opportunities in the civilian world. In 2020, in the height of the pandemic, we recorded the veteran’s stories in hopes of sharing those experiences with the broader community.
